Family

Family.

Used to be a unit that consisted of my parents and siblings. Now, my husband and daughters.

I knew I would marry and have a couple of kids. Just never contemplated a messy house and never ending house chores.

Nevertheless, I am proud of my life so far and this will be what I will be working on for now: healthy lifestyle.

Shadows

I took these pictures a few weeks back and had already posted on mt face book.

The morning light casted such a brilliant silhouette that I absolutely have to snap the pictures.

And what brilliant weather it is in sunny Singapore!

I cannot stop laughing...

See what Darling No 2 had got herself into...

She was under my table and when I called her, after combing Darling No 2, I gave her a peek and saw she had hid herself at the far corner and still refuses to come out. It has been so for the last 15 minutes.

Hahaha....
Wonder what has gotten into her, she has always come running to me whenever I call her name

This is a day of celebration, my friend, SO, was baptized today, 4 June 2011, Saturday, 3.40 pm at the YWCA  Fort Canning.

I am happy for her and happier still that she has finally committed to this step.

Did a powerpoint for her, she is at her one week church camp now, don't think she got time to read her emails.

I believe religion is the biggest and most important support one needs. It can affirm and bring out our innate beliefs, enhance our self worth, help us walk the path of righteousness; in short, be a better person from history.

Over whelming love

Over whelming.

My mom really thinks I eat a lot!

This is like 2 extra portions of the recommended portion for a normal adult.

I did not eat the chicken that came with this lot, I am vegetarian, remember?

Dead dogs

My Darlings seems dead tired, even more so than me!

Every night, day after day!

Though I wake them up, yes, I do. And make them breakfast, cook their dinner, clean their pee tray...

Think they spend their energy barking only. Nothing else. Don't see them doing anything strenuous.

More favorite things

More if my favorite things.

Taking pictures so that I can remember them. Clearing my stuff so that it will be easier to pack later.

I intend to clear away most of my stuff. My mission is life is to experience things and to help people.I have to realize that there are simply too many things to keep from everything that I do. It is enough that I have gone through the experience; hence there is no need to keep anything physical with me.

Remembrance

Was clearing my old stuff.

This year is a year of changes, be out political or my work life or live life. and if you haven't got my new mobile number, let me know.

Anyway I took out my box and saw these 2 watches which I had kept from my grandfather's collectibles.

Brought me back to my younger days.

And here are some of my most favorite things.

The nice red hair clip that accompanied me in my junior college days, the sunflower in my dating days, my first pager. I got it with my second pay check.first went to this key pouch that was meant for my dad.which I am using now.
And the black phone pouch my Darling No 1 got me on his trip to Taiwan.he got me 2 actually but I kept only 1. The trinkets from my childhood, kindergarten days.

Bathing Time

Took me a good 45 minutes to bath the naughty duo.

Their coat made it hard to wet them as their under coat was not stripped yet, for some months now.

And their frivolous nature made it impossible to get them to stay still.

And then, with my neighbor's walking around, and the noise from the playground below, they had a great deal to see and bark at!

They are still wet now and I don't have any intention to use the hair dryer as I just want to bath myself. Still sticky from walking them and exhausted from my yoga (brought them out immediately after I reach home from yoga), I need to clean myself up too!

Check out these two ads on the Straits Times yesterday,20 May 2011.

The green ads came first, from StarHub.

Funny thing is, I didn't notice much about it till I turned the page and thought my mind is going haywire when I saw two of the same ads.

So I flipped back and noticed the different color and then the different companies/telco s.

guess now the telco s are hitting on this trends now, just now the I phone trends earlier.

Fire in the sky

Guess where was this taken?

It was near a car park in the east. It stuck as very special because it was like a fire in the sky.

The nice thing about this is it was taken from my new mobile, Sony Ericsson Xperia arc :)

A Gift

Got this sweet dress from Darling No 1's mom.

She called me the day she bought the dress.she was that excited!

It's a full length skirt and she must have noticed that I love skirts! So sweet of her!

I have got my new phone today, thanks to Darling No 1.

It was 2 weeks too early, I reckon, but it is a good phone to have! It is the Xperia arc!

I wrote earlier about the Barley Drink and Snow Lotus Soup.

But I forgot to tell you how long to cook them. Actually I prefer letting the soup slowly mature so I always cook over small fire. that means you can simmer the soup over 2 hours. You can also use a Slow Cooker for this purpose. It makes the soup extra sweet.

Stay Home Day

Today is a Stay Home Day for me.

Wanted to bring my Darlings out, but the thunder frightened my Darling No 2 so much that he had to take shelter in my lap. (He wasn't in any mood to go out, not that I don't want to bring him).

I then decided to boil some soup.

This is a $7 pre-packed Chinese soup from my local neighborhood shop - Shop & Save. I am sure you can also get this from else where. Normally the price ranges from $3.50 to $5. I got this as I had never tried this recipe before. And I always buy those soup that "cools" the body. That's the power of Chinese herbs!

This is how the package looks like: Snow Lotus Soup. I did not use the claypot to cook my soup though, I use a normal metal pot. And I just found out there are other Lotus Soup out there too!

Well, if you can see, here are some preparation guide and picture of what the soup is suppose to do:

 


When I tear open the packet, you can see that all the ingredients are packed individually. There's also this white thing that's wrapped in the plastic white protective sheet, normally for fruits.

Here's a closer view. I think this is the special lotus thing.

And last night I soaked some Chinese Barley and you can see the bubbles forming on the top of the water surface. From Wikipedia, Barley also can be used to make beer. Thus I deduce you can either drink beer or barley to cool your body! ;p Well, since I can't feed beer to my Darlings, I choose a simple Barley Drink!

Well here are the simple ingredients:

1 Cup of Barley

3 Cups of Water (may be added to taste)

3 Pieces of Winter Melon

3 Pieces of Rock Sugar (may be added to taste)

*Water must cover the ingredients

Well, it is a rainy day after all :)
