How to send your blog posts to Twitter

If you already have a Twitterfeed account and want to know how to send or publish your blog to Facebook or Twitter, this is the right place.

Summarized Steps

1. Log into Twitterfeed account 

2. See where your blogs are being sent to currently (Under Dashboard in Twitterfeed)

3. Tell Twitterfeed where else you want to send your blogs to (Under Edit)

4. Give Twitterfeed your details (like logging into Twitter or Facebook)

5. Tell Twitter you want to let Twitterfeed talk to it (aka giving permissions)

Here are the details... (I think you are getting nerdier when you really read these... ;p)

Step 1

Go to Twitterfeed at Twitterfeed.com and log in

Step 2

After you have logged into Twitterfeed, you will be able to see your previous setups 

The Pink color in my picture below are the posts that have been published via TwitterFeed.

The Blue color are the places where your posts have been sent.

The Purple color is the place where you want to go (EDIT)

Step 3 

Click on the Application where you want to send your blog posts to. Example Twitter, Laconica, Ping.fm, Hellotxt or Facebook.

Twitter - Importing blogs (How to)

This post follows my previous post on how to publish your blog to Facebook automatically. This one tells you how to send your blogs to Twitter using Twitterfeed from Start to End. If you have already setup a Twitterfeed account previously, click another post to read how to jump right in.

Summarized Steps
1. Log into Twitterfeed account and tell Twitterfeed where to find your blog site (aka Feedburner URL)
2. Tell Twitterfeed what is your Twitter account (aka logging into Twitter)
3. Tell Twitter you want to let Twitterfeed talk to it (aka giving permissions)


Here are the details... (I think you are getting nerdier when you really read these... ;p)

Step 1

Go to Twitterfeed at Twitterfeed.com

Step 2

Put in your email and choose a password for Twitterfeed (Pls do not use your email password! Read my post on Scams here)

Step 3 

Put in a name for the feed that you want to have your blog posting sent from. The example I am using is of course my blog. I am calling it Lynspirations (no prizes for guessing!). Then you need to have the RSS feed URL. This is a useful tool that Blogspot gives you.  

The RSS Feed for Blogspot is the Feedburner. To access it, log into your Blogspot and go to Settings > Site Feed.  You will need to enable it if you haven't done so. I could post some pictures, but a faster way for you would be to just click "Yes" on every single thing you see on the screens (this is what I do when I reinstall Windows all the time!)

You can further customize the frequency, etc of how Twitterfeed will update your postings.

Step 4

Once you have put in the correct things (and these are easily if you follow my easy to do steps), you are done! You will see the green color highlight that tells you that your feed was successfully created.

You will then click on "Twitter" icon.

Step 5

Click on the "Authenticate Twitter" icon.

Step 6

You will be ask to let Twitterfeed access your Twitter account. Click on Allow to continue.

Taste Success!

You will see these once you have created the feed for your Facebook and Twitter. (of course you have to write something on your blog first... )

Finally I have done it! Send my blog posts to Facebook. All thanks to Twitterfeed.

As promised, I am writing a post to tell you how exactly you can follow me... and that linking your Blogspot posts to Facebook is that easy! It is really easy to automatically publish your blog posts to Facebook. I shall do another post on how to do it to Twitter.

Here's how:

Step 1
Go to Twitterfeed at Twitterfeed.com

Step 2

Facebook - Importing blogs

It is so frustrating when I try to publish my blog postings to Facebook automatically.

I was following these steps but they did NOT work... (do NOT follow).

*Sigh*... gotta sign up for twitterfeed. 

If you see this posting on Faceboor or Tweeter, then it means Twitterfeed is working!

I shall post how to do this correctly next time... (if it works)

Facebook - New Layout

Guys

These few days Facebook has been having some trouble with API latency issues. Today they changed their user interface. What next?



On the top left hand corner are the new icons : Notification, Message and Friend Request.

 

On the home page, you see the 3 new stuff they added.

  

This is the old layout.

 

I suppose the new layout is to inspire people to interact more (eg: do more friend requests, messages and what-nots)... and make it abit of a hassle to log-out (since they don't want you to log out even?)

At least they still have the profile button, making it less of a hassle for me to update my profile picture. They have learnt from Twitter i think. Will Twitter also be changing their layout soon?

New face for Facebook?

Tweetdeck (for Twitter and Facebook)

Tweetdeck is a wonderful application that works in Windows & Mac for Twitter, Facebook, MySpace, LinkedIn and etc.

It allows you to login simultaneously for Twitter and Facebook. What I like about it is that it is fast and instant.

It frees me from the logging in and out of my accounts (even though Mozilla Firefox does a wonderful job in remembering my passwords).

And I like the color scheme (black and gray, call me morbid!) But of course, you can always customize your own color (to shocking pink even!)

The program allows you to customize how you want it to look. (Choose Mentions, and Direct Messages or All Friends for Twitter) and also close or hide these features at a click.

Developer Iain Dodsworth has done a wonderful job. It is extremely fun to use, with great interface (interface = looks or presentation) and you can set it to run like a professional if you want to too.

The Tweetdeck website also features a directory for the uninitiated.

Tweetdeck runs in the background as well. If you click on a link, you can customize it to open in your Internet Browser (eg: Internet Explorer or Morzilla Firefox, etc). This is the same for any picture links. In fact, I customized my Tweetdeck to have the picture links open within Tweetdeck. It is cool!


And oh yes, I am addicted to the tweeting sound. (just like I was to the ICQ uh-uh)

I confess! I have a new toy and its name is FutureTweets (from OneForty).

I was looking for an application that allows me to automate my tweets.

Haiti Earthquakes :Updates

US President Barack Obama issued a statement saying the US "stood ready" to help the people of Haiti and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton says the US will provide both military and civilian aid.

The quake was followed by at least two weaker aftershocks.

A major earthquake of magnitude 7 or higher is capable of causing widespread and heavy damage.

A tsunami warning was issued but was later cancelled, but a small tsunami was measured.

Haiti, and the entire Caribbean, is in an area that is particularly prone to earthquakes because two fault lines meet in that areas side-by-side - making it a strike-slip fault.

This means the earth either side of the fault slides horizontally during a tremor, rather than buckling vertically.

These earthquakes are characterised by shaking and do not tend to result in tsunamis.

Because these faults are located on land, they tend to take place close to population centres, making them particularly devastating.

Dip-slip faults, the other faults around which earthquakes take place, tend to be found off-shore under the ocean. Therefore population areas are located further from these earthquakes.

Haiti is the poorest country in the Western hemisphere.

yeah! my new PC is finally here.

These are the must-have apps (applications) for new PC / laptop:

Mozilla Firefox - read the dummy guide here 

I love this browser because it allows you to customize and include Add-Ons. Add-Ons are like mini programs or accessories for the main product (Firefox). Just like earrings to complement your outfit. But they have a purpose. Read here for more information: Mozilla Firefox extensions or more in-depth information.

I downloaded the Themes as well as google toolbar since I support Google :)



And then I got myself some more anti-virus software. It came free with the Adobe Flash *yeah* If you are looking for free antivirus programs, here are some for you, from Cnet Download.com This is a great website, a one-stop for all programs, even drivers.

And then I decided I needed some utility programs, like drivers. Because I am using this Acer AL1717P monitor. It looks something like this: . But it is a gray version. I love it because it has built-in speakers and I don't have to get speakers for it. But it is weak though and I still attach earphones when I want dramatic sound effects :) This is the exact one I am using now. A gift from Darling No 1. (Speaking of him, he got me this PC too *smile*)

Also if you always transfer files, it is good to have either Winzip or WinRar. I also recommend VLC as your main music or video player as it plays most files. It is so user friendly that I fall in love with it. Thanks to JC (my ex-colleague) who recommended me this.

She also introduced me to Skype. It is the official communication program in NHG, where I worked for a short period of time.



Then next on my list was the windows download. Well, I wanted to update my windows and I tried so hard to find the update windows icon on the Start Menu. Well, there isn't one!

And then I went to see what is new in Windows 7 here and what are the top downloads (they must be good if everyone is getting them?) And I peeked at what are the new programs on the market, just to keep myself up to date.

And as I am a visual person, I need some good simple picture editing programs. I wanted to get SnagIt (read more) but then there is already a program call Snipping Tool. So there is no need for me to go get anything. And of course I pinned my favourite program Paint to the start menu.

So far so good. And not to forget my online buddies, I went to download Windows Live Menssenger (Guide Help for Windows Live Messenger) and the Windows Live Mail. Please don't ask me if I went along with the default installation setup - NO! of course NOT! I refuse to use Bing and I did not like the other applications that were offered in the Windows LIVE Essentials sets (stuff like silverlight and what-nots).

Then I installed ICQ because I am a sentimental person (it was my second chatting program, MIRC being the first). I may download MIRC later :)

As you can see, i spent alot of time doing my setup. But it is easy to do and you can do it too :)
